DCR-S
Bar Code Reader for Pharmaceutical Packaging lines
DCR-S read and verify codes having up to 16 bars, or requiring decimal decoding of up to 16
characters, at the speed in excess of 4 metres/second.
The DCR-S has the capacity to read and verify binary codes (pharmacodes) having up to 16 bars, or
structured codes (39, 39 full ascii, 32, EAN, etc.) requiring decimal decoding of up to 16 characters, at
a speed in excess of mt/sec (over 1000 codes/minute).
Designed for modular expansion it may house, in its internal four slots rack, up to four electronic
cards for the use of up to four optical heads. This modular characteristic enables any DCR-S, originally
installed with one or two modules, to be subsequently expanded, to up to four reading modules for
codes control on up to 4 single components of a same manufactured product (box, leaflet, tube, label, etc.).
Each module has been designed to ensure not only the components code verification but also the complete
monitoring of the packaging process and, by interfacing with the parent machine, the expulsion of any
incorrect packed product.
Codes, assigned to each packaging component may be entered into the memories of the unit either by the
keyboard of the front panel (graphic or numerical codes) or, for alphanumerical structured codes, through
the keyboard of a PC connected via the serial port of the DCR-S.
Binary codes may be printed in any colour or combination of colours although, to obtain a good optical
recognition, colours should be bright and markedly in contrast to the background colour.
The DCR-S can memorize, per scanning head, up to 254 codes in RAM and up to 510 codes
in ROM. Each memory system is indipendent and the reader can be switched from one to the other.
Each reading module is provided, for the choice of the installer, with two expulsion memories: expulsion
normally open and activated (closed) during transit of correct codes, and expulsion normally closed and
activated (opened) during transit of wrong codes, of indipendent length, programmable from zero to 63 shifts, and
an own indipendent input line for the advancement signal of these memories (machine clock).
The front panel LCD display will show, for any of the scanning heads which can be manually selected via
the keypad, the code set and the code read, the progressive number of correct readings (OK) and the
progressive number of incorrect readings (WR). The DCR-S is also provided of serial channel RS232/485, for
the remote use of all Reader's functions by a host computer, which will also permit to print, by single
production lot, the OK and WR reading results for each optical head.
